Analysis: MAAP.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Agosto del 2020 finaliz\u00f3 como un mes de <strong>incendios severos<\/strong> en la <strong>Amazon\u00eda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Nuestra nueva aplicaci\u00f3n de <a href=\"https:\/\/luciovilla.users.earthengine.app\/view\/monitoring-amazon-fires\">Monitoreo de Fuegos en Tiempo Real<\/a> ha detectado <strong>621 grandes incendios<\/strong>\u00a0en la <strong>Amazon\u00eda brasile\u00f1a<\/strong> en lo que va del 2020.*<\/p>\n<p>De estos, <strong>88%<\/strong> se dieron en <strong>agosto,<\/strong> y todos fueron<strong> ilegales<\/strong>, ocurriendo despu\u00e9s de las moratorias sobre el uso de fuego en Brasil, establecidas en julio.<\/p>\n<p>En agosto, tambi\u00e9n identificamos un notable aumento de los <strong>\u201cfuegos forestales\u201d, <\/strong>definidos aqu\u00ed como fuegos en bosques por causas antropog\u00e9nicas. Estos representan al 12% de los grandes incendios.<\/p>\n<p>La gran mayor\u00eda de los grandes incendios (<strong>80%<\/strong>) contin\u00faan <strong>quemando \u00e1reas recientemente deforestadas<\/strong>, definidas aqu\u00ed como \u00e1reas donde el bosque fue recientemente deforestado (entre el 2018-20) previamente a ser quemado.<\/p>\n<p>En efecto, <strong>453,000 hect\u00e1reas<\/strong> de \u00e1reas recientemente deforestadas, ardieron en el 2020. As\u00ed, los <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">incendios son en realidad un indicador de la actual deforestaci\u00f3n desenfrenada en la Amazon\u00eda brasile\u00f1a<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>La aplicaci\u00f3n ha detectado un adicional de 52 grandes incendios en la <strong>Amazon\u00eda boliviana<\/strong>\u00a0(ver abajo).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>Mapa Base<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El Mapa Base es una captura de pantalla de la capa \u201c<strong><b>Major Amazon Fires 2020<\/b><\/strong>\u201d de la aplicaci\u00f3n. Datos: Planet.<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>*Notas y Metodolog\u00eda<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La aplicaci\u00f3n <strong>se especializa<\/strong> en filtrar las, tradicionales, miles de alertas de fuego basadas en focos de calor, para priorizar solo a las que queman amplias cantidades de biomasa (definidas aqu\u00ed como incendio).<\/p>\n<p>En un <strong>nuevo enfoque<\/strong>, la aplicaci\u00f3n combina datos de la atm\u00f3sfera (emisiones de aerosol en humo) y el suelo (alertas de calor an\u00f3malas) para efectivamente detectar y visualizar los <strong>principales incendios de la Amazon\u00eda.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cuando el fuego arde, emite gases y aerosoles. Un nuevo sat\u00e9lite (Sentinel-5P de la Agencia Espacial Europea) detecta esas <strong>emisiones de aerosol.<\/strong> As\u00ed, la caracter\u00edstica principal de la aplicaci\u00f3n es detectar las emisiones de aerosol elevadas, las cuales, indican la quema de amplias cantidades de biomasa. Por ejemplo, la aplicaci\u00f3n distingue entre los fuegos de parcelas (quema de poca biomasa) e incendios que queman \u00e1reas recientemente deforestadas o bosque (y quema de bastante biomasa).<\/p>\n<p>Definimos como incendio principal, a uno que muestra elevados niveles de emisiones de aerosol en la aplicaci\u00f3n, indicando as\u00ed, la quema de altos niveles de biomasa. T\u00edpicamente, se traduce a un \u00edndice de aerosol de &gt;1 (o verde cian a rojo en la aplicaci\u00f3n). Para identificar el origen exacto de las elevadas emisiones, reducimos la intensidad de los datos de aerosol con el fin de ver las subyacentes alertas terrestres basadas en focos de calor. Habitualmente, para incendios, hay un grupo de alertas. Luego, los incendios principales se confirman, y las \u00e1reas quemadas se estiman, usando im\u00e1genes satelitales de alta resoluci\u00f3n de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planet.com\/explorer\/\">Planet Explorer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ver el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2020\/fuegos_app_2020\/\">MAAP #118\u00a0<\/a>para detalles adicionales en c\u00f3mo usar la aplicaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En el estado brasile\u00f1o de Mato Grosso, no se permite el uso de fuegos desde el 1ro de julio del 2020, y en toda la Amazon\u00eda brasile\u00f1a, desde el 15 de julio.
