Durante el\u00a02016, estamos recopilando informaci\u00f3n para mejorar el entendimiento acerca de las causas potenciales (drivers)\u00a0de deforestaci\u00f3n en los principales hotspots identificados. En el <strong>presente MAAP<\/strong>, nos enfocamos en la\u00a0zona a lo largo de la carretera Interoce\u00e1nica, al este de\u00a0la regi\u00f3n Madre de Dios, donde los datos indican un hotspot de deforestaci\u00f3n de intensidad media\u00a0(ver el Cuadro A de la\u00a0<strong>Imagen 42a<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_4789\" class=\"thumbnail alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/papaya_analisis_02_m_v8_es.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4789 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/papaya_analisis_02_m_v8_es.jpg\" alt=\"Imagen 38a. UMD\/GLAD, USGS\/NASA<\/div><\/div>\n<p>El an\u00e1lisis se basa en los trabajos de campo realizados por la Direcci\u00f3n General de Ordenamiento Territorial del Ministerio del Ambiente, en colaboraci\u00f3n con\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.terra-i.org\/terra-i.html\">Terra-i<\/a>. Este equipo ha\u00a0verificado la presencia de plantaciones de papaya en el sector y han compartido sus fotos y coordenadas con MAAP para permitir la b\u00fasqueda de im\u00e1genes satelitales.<\/p>\n<p>Analizando toda la informaci\u00f3n, encontramos\u00a0que el\u00a0<strong>cultivo de papaya\u00a0<\/strong>fue un importante driver de deforestaci\u00f3n en la zona en el 2015. En el \u00e1rea\u00a0indicada por el Cuadro A, estimamos una <strong>deforestaci\u00f3n de<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>204 hect\u00e1reas por\u00a0el cultivo de papaya\u00a0en el 2015 <\/strong>(equivalente a 280 campos de f\u00fatbol). Esto representa\u00a0un gran incremento comparado con las\u00a055 hect\u00e1reas deforestadas por papaya\u00a0en el a\u00f1o 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Toda la deforestaci\u00f3n es de peque\u00f1a (&lt; 5 hectareas) o mediana (5-50 hect\u00e1reas) escala. Seg\u00fan el an\u00e1lisis presentado en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2016\/escala\/\">MAAP #32<\/a>, estas escalas representaron el 99% de los eventos de deforestaci\u00f3n en Per\u00fa en el 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Aproximadamente el 90% de la deforestaci\u00f3n observada se encuentra al interior de predios agr\u00edcolas. No obstante, la finalidad de este art\u00edculo no es abordar su legalidad, sino presentar datos t\u00e9cnicos respecto a las causas de deforestaci\u00f3n y brindar informaci\u00f3n para una discusi\u00f3n informada sobre alternativas potenciales\u00a0y soluciones a la tem\u00e1tica de la deforestaci\u00f3n en Madre de Dios.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A continuaci\u00f3n<\/strong>, mostramos <strong>im\u00e1genes satelitales y fotos del campo<\/strong> de 5 ejemplos de la reciente deforestaci\u00f3n causada por el cultivo de papaya.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Ejemplo #1<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La <strong>Imagen 42b<\/strong> muestra la deforestaci\u00f3n de 12 hect\u00e1reas entre septiembre del 2013 (panel izquierdo) y enero del 2016 (panel derecho).
