Haga clic en el mapa para ampliarlo.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>En general se sabe que los productos \u201c<strong><em>commodities<\/em><\/strong>\u201d como la palma aceitera, la soya, y el ganado son los principales impulsores de la deforestaci\u00f3n en los tr\u00f3picos, pero a menudo resulta dif\u00edcil realizar estimaciones concisas.<\/p>\n<p>Los nuevos datos satelitales est\u00e1n mejorando esta situaci\u00f3n. Notablemente, investigadores han publicado la primera panorama de las <strong>plantaciones de soya<\/strong> en Sudam\u00e9rica.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>En le presente reporte, utilizamos estos datos para estimar la reciente<strong> deforestaci\u00f3n por soya<\/strong> en la <strong>Amazon\u00eda boliviana.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En la segunda parte de esta serie (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2023\/soya-mennonites-bolivia\/\"><strong>MAAP #180<\/strong><\/a>), incorporamos datos adicionales para estimar el rol de las <strong>colonias Menonitas<\/strong> en esta deforestaci\u00f3n por soya.<\/p>\n<p>En resumen, documentamos la deforestaci\u00f3n masiva de <strong>904,518 hect\u00e1reas <\/strong>impulsada por la soya en la Amazon\u00eda boliviana entre el 2001 y el 2021 (ver <strong>Mapa Base<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>De este total, los Menonitas han causado el 23% (210,980 hect\u00e1reas).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Deforestaci\u00f3n por Soya en la Amazon\u00eda Boliviana, 2001 \u2013 2021<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La soya ha cubierto 2.1 millones de hect\u00e1reas en el sur de la Amazon\u00eda boliviana en los \u00faltimos 20 a\u00f1os, y su cobertura actual ronda los 1.2 millones de hect\u00e1reas.<\/p>\n<p>Hemos documentado un nivel extremadamente alto de deforestaci\u00f3n impulsada por la soya en la Amazon\u00eda boliviana<strong>: 904,518 hect\u00e1reas<\/strong> entre el 2001 y el 2021 (ver <strong>Mapa Base<\/strong> m\u00e1s arriba). Se trata de un \u00e1rea masiva, similar en tama\u00f1o a 1.3 millones de campos de f\u00fatbol.<\/p>\n<p>Esta deforestaci\u00f3n de soya alcanz\u00f3 su punto m\u00e1ximo en el 2008 (92,000 hect\u00e1reas), pero ha sido relativamente alto (&gt;18,000 hect\u00e1reas) anualmente entre el 2001 y 2019, lo que significa que es un problema persistente y de larga duraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La gran mayor\u00eda de la deforestaci\u00f3n total ocurri\u00f3 en el departamento de Santa Cruz, m\u00e1s un \u00e1ngulo peque\u00f1o en el departamento adyacente de Beni.<\/p>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n, la <strong>Figura 1<\/strong> muestra la deforestaci\u00f3n masiva de soya en los \u00faltimos 20 a\u00f1os en la Amazon\u00eda boliviana, comparando el 2001 (panel izquierdo) con el 2021 (panel derecho).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_11569\" class=\"thumbnail aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/maaproject.org-maap-179-deforestacion-por-soya-en-la-amazonia-boliviana-Panel-Soy-01-21-spanish.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11569 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/maaproject.org-maap-179-deforestacion-por-soya-en-la-amazonia-boliviana-Panel-Soy-01-21-spanish.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2630\" height=\"1140\" \/><\/a><div class=\"caption\">Figura 1. Deforestaci\u00f3n por soya en la Amazon\u00eda boliviana, 2017 vs. 2021.<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Metodolog\u00eda<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Para esta serie de reportes, hemos empleado una metodolog\u00eda en tres partes.<\/p>\n<p>Primero, identificamos la \u00absuperficie plantada de soya\u00bb del 2001 al 2021 bas\u00e1ndonos en los datos de Song et al 2021.<sup>1<\/sup> Estos datos est\u00e1n disponibles en el sitio GLAD de la Universidad de Maryland \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/glad.umd.edu\/projects\/commodity-crop-mapping-and-monitoring-south-america\">Commodity Crop Mapping and Monitoring in South America<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Segundo, adem\u00e1s de la superficie plantada de soya mencionada arriba, identificamos la p\u00e9rdida de bosque entre el 2001 y el 2021, tambi\u00e9n basado en datos de la Universidad de Maryland.<sup>2<\/sup> Esto nos sirvi\u00f3 para estimar la deforestaci\u00f3n por la soya.<\/p>\n<p>Tercero, adem\u00e1s de la superficie plantada con soya mencionada anteriormente, incorporamos un conjunto de datos adicional de un estudio reciente sobre la expansi\u00f3n de las colonias menonitas en Am\u00e9rica Latina.<sup>3<\/sup> Los datos espaciales de este estudio est\u00e1n <a href=\"https:\/\/borealisdata.ca\/dataverse\/lendev\">disponibles aqu\u00ed<\/a>.
