Datos: UMD\/GLAD, ACA\/MAAP.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Presentamos una mirada inicial a los principales<strong> focos de deforestaci\u00f3n (hotspots) del 2021<\/strong> <strong>en la Amazon\u00eda.*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>El <strong>Mapa Base<\/strong>\u00a0ilustra varios<strong> hallazgos clave<\/strong>:<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">p<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Estimamos la p\u00e9rdida de m\u00e1s de <strong>1,9 millones de hect\u00e1reas<\/strong> de bosque primario en los nueve pa\u00edses del bioma amaz\u00f3nico en el 2021.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">j<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Esta cantidad de p\u00e9rdida coincide con los dos a\u00f1os anteriores, elevando la deforestaci\u00f3n total a <strong>6 millones de hect\u00e1reas<\/strong> desde el 2019, m\u00e1s grande que el tama\u00f1o del pa\u00eds de Costa Rica.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">h<\/span><\/li>\n<li>En el 2021, la mayor parte de la deforestaci\u00f3n ocurri\u00f3 en <strong>Brasil (70%),<\/strong> seguido de <strong>Bolivia (14%), Per\u00fa (7%) y Colombia (6%)<\/strong>.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">g<\/span><\/li>\n<li>En <strong>Brasil,<\/strong> los hotspots se concentran a lo largo de las principales carreteras. Muchas de estas zonas tambi\u00e9n se quemaron tras la deforestaci\u00f3n.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">j<\/span><\/li>\n<li>En <strong>Bolivia,<\/strong> los incendios impactaron nuevamente a varios ecosistemas importantes, como los bosques secos del Chiquitano, localizados al sureste del pa\u00eds.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">j<\/span><\/li>\n<li>En <strong>Per\u00fa,<\/strong> la deforestaci\u00f3n sigue afectando a la regi\u00f3n central, sobre todo por una nueva colonia Menonita.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">h<\/span><\/li>\n<li>En <strong>Colombia<\/strong>, el arco de deforestaci\u00f3n se mantiene, impactando numerosas \u00e1reas protegidas y territorios ind\u00edgenas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n, nos enfocamos en los cuatro pa\u00edses con mayor deforestaci\u00f3n: Brasil, Bolivia, Per\u00fa y Colombia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_10830\" class=\"thumbnail alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/maaproject.org-maap-153-hotspots-de-deforestacion-en-la-amazonia-2021-Brazil-Amz-2021-200dpi-Spa.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10830 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/maaproject.org-maap-153-hotspots-de-deforestacion-en-la-amazonia-2021-Brazil-Amz-2021-200dpi-Spa-785x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"785\" height=\"580\" \/><\/a><div class=\"caption\">Mapa Base de Brasil. Datos: UMD\/GLAD, ACA\/MAAP.<\/div><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Amazon\u00eda Peruana<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Peru Base Map shows the concentration of deforestation in the central Peruvian Amazon (Ucayali region).<\/p>\n<p>Cabe resaltar la r\u00e1pida deforestaci\u00f3n (365 hect\u00e1reas) en una <strong>nueva colonia menonita<\/strong> en el 2021, cerca de la localidad denominada como Padre M\u00e1rquez (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2021\/menonitas_4colonias\/\">MAAP #149<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n se observan algunos hotspots adicionales en el sur (regi\u00f3n de Madre de Dios), pero esta vez son mayormente por la expansi\u00f3n agr\u00edcola, en lugar de la hist\u00f3rica miner\u00eda aur\u00edfera.<\/p>\n<p>De hecho, la deforestaci\u00f3n por miner\u00eda aur\u00edfera se ha reducido en gran medida gracias a las acciones del gobierno, no obstante esta actividad ilegal sigue amenazando varias \u00e1reas clave y territorios ind\u00edgenas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2020\/mineria_ilegal\/\">MAAP #130<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_10833\" class=\"thumbnail alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/maaproject.org-maap-153-hotspots-de-deforestacion-en-la-amazonia-2021-Colombia-Amz-2021-200dpi-Spa.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10833 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/maaproject.org-maap-153-hotspots-de-deforestacion-en-la-amazonia-2021-Colombia-Amz-2021-200dpi-Spa-741x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"741\" height=\"580\" \/><\/a><div class=\"caption\">Mapa Base de Colombia. Datos: UMD\/GLAD, ACA\/MAAP<\/div><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Amazon\u00eda Colombiana<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Como se describe en reportes anteriores (ver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2020\/colombia-2020\/\">MAAP #120<\/a>), el Mapa Base de Colombia muestra que sigue habiendo un <strong>\u00abarco de deforestaci\u00f3n\u00bb<\/strong> en el noroeste de la Amazon\u00eda colombiana (departamentos de Caquet\u00e1, Meta y Guaviare).<\/p>\n<p>Este arco afecta a numerosas \u00c1reas Protegidas (particularmente a los Parques Nacionales Tinigua y Chiribiquete) y a Reservas Ind\u00edgenas (particularmente a Yari-Yaguara II y Nukak Maku).<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Metodolog\u00eda<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The analysis was based on 10-meter resolution primary forest loss alerts (GLAD+) produced by the University of Maryland and also presented by Global Forest Watch. These alerts are derived from the Sentinel-2 satellite operated by the European Space Agency.<\/p>\n<p>We emphasize that this data represents a preliminary estimate and more definitive annual data will come later next year.<\/p>\n<p>We also note that this data does include forest loss caused by natural forces and burned areas.<\/p>\n<p>Our geographic range for the Amazon is a hybrid between both the biogeographic boundary (as defined by RAISG) and watershed\u00a0 boundary, designed for maximum inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>To identify the deforestation hotspots, we conducted a kernel density estimate. This type of analysis calculates the magnitude per unit area of a particular phenomenon, in this case forest cover loss. We conducted this analysis using the Kernel Density tool from Spatial Analyst Tool Box of ArcGIS. We used the following parameters:<\/p>\n<p>Search Radius: 15000 layer units (meters)<br \/>\nKernel Density Function: Quartic kernel function<br \/>\nCell Size in the map: 200 x 200 meters (4 hectares)<br \/>\nEverything else was left to the default setting.<\/p>\n<p>For the Base Map, we used the following concentration percentages: Medium: 5-7%; High: 7-14%; Very High: &gt;14%.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Agradecimientos<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Agradecemos a M.
