Fuente: EcoCiencia.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>La expansi\u00f3n de la frontera agropecuaria, como en el caso de los monocultivos de palma aceitera, es una de las principales causas de la deforestaci\u00f3n en la <strong>Amazon\u00eda ecuatoriana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Adicionalmente, el cultivo frut\u00edcola de <strong>pitahaya, o fruta drag\u00f3n <\/strong>(ver Figura 1), se ha expandido r\u00e1pidamente en el sector noroccidente de la provincia de Morona Santiago (cant\u00f3n Palora).<\/p>\n<p>En este cant\u00f3n, se ha documentado un aumento repentino de la transici\u00f3n de los boques a zonas agropecuarias <strong>a partir del a\u00f1o 2019<\/strong> (ver Anexo). Casos de estudio-Cant\u00f3n Palora<\/div><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Mapa Base: Casos de estudio en el Cant\u00f3n de Palora<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El Mapa Base muestra la ubicaci\u00f3n de los cuatro casos de estudio.<\/p>\n<p>Cada caso se muestra con m\u00e1s detalle a continuaci\u00f3n, evidenciando el avance de los cultivos de pitahaya entre el periodo 2019 \u2013 2023, en el cant\u00f3n de Palora.<\/p>\n<p>Acumulativamente, los cuatro casos han experimentado la deforestaci\u00f3n de <b>160 hect\u00e1reas<\/b>\u00a0para nuevos cultivos de pitahaya\u00a0en los \u00faltimos cuatro a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Caso 1: Sector comunidad Sangay Rural <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El primer caso, ubicado cerca de la comunidad Sangay Rural, el cultivo de pitahaya ha aumentado <strong>25.5 hect\u00e1reas<\/strong> entre 2019 y 2023.
