Dados: ESA\/S2, GFW, ACA\/MAAP<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<p><b>\u00c0 medida que os formuladores de pol\u00edticas nacionais iniciam a c\u00fapula clim\u00e1tica<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> global COP28 em Dubai, fornecemos aqui uma atualiza\u00e7\u00e3o concisa sobre o estado atual da perda da floresta amaz\u00f4nica e das reservas de carbono restantes, ambas com base nos dados de ponta mais recentes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para <\/span><b>a perda de floresta na Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , analisamos os alertas prim\u00e1rios de perda de floresta conhecidos como GLAD-S2, que s\u00e3o baseados em imagens \u00f3pticas de resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de 10 metros do sat\u00e9lite Sentinel-2 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> da Ag\u00eancia Espacial Europeia . Esses alertas avan\u00e7ados est\u00e3o dispon\u00edveis de 2019 at\u00e9 o presente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para <\/span><b>as reservas de carbono da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , analisamos a vers\u00e3o rec\u00e9m-atualizada dos\u00a0 dados <\/span><b>GEDI da NASA\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , que usaram lasers a bordo da Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Espacial Internacional para fornecer estimativas recentes da densidade de biomassa acima do solo em uma escala global. Esses dados t\u00eam uma resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de 1 quil\u00f4metro e cobrem o per\u00edodo de abril de 2019 a mar\u00e7o de 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em resumo, relatamos duas <\/span><b>descobertas principais<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uma <\/span><b>redu\u00e7\u00e3o dr\u00e1stica (mais da metade) na perda de floresta prim\u00e1ria<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> entre o ano atual de 2023 e o ano passado de 2022 em toda a Amaz\u00f4nia. Os maiores decl\u00ednios foram documentados na Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira e colombiana (59% e 67%, respectivamente).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mais de 78 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de biomassa acima do solo em todo o bioma da Amaz\u00f4nia, que se converte em <\/span><b>mais de 37 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de carbono<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . As maiores densidades de carbono est\u00e3o localizadas nas se\u00e7\u00f5es nordeste (Suriname, Guiana Francesa e nordeste do Brasil) e sudoeste (sul do Peru) da Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Perda da Floresta Amaz\u00f4nica<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estimamos que a perda florestal <\/span><b>caiu 55,8%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> entre 2023 (911.740 hectares) e 2022 (2.062.939 hectares). A perda \u00e9 ainda mais impressionante (queda de mais de dois ter\u00e7os, 67,7%) quando comparada a 2020 (2.823.475 hectares). \u00c9 importante enfatizar que todas essas s\u00e3o compara\u00e7\u00f5es diretamente relevantes, cobrindo o mesmo per\u00edodo de janeiro ao in\u00edcio de novembro para cada ano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>O gr\u00e1fico 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (veja acima) ilustra essa grande redu\u00e7\u00e3o na perda de floresta prim\u00e1ria em 2023, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o ao ano passado, 2022, e ao recente pico de 2020, em todo o bioma Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Os gr\u00e1ficos 2 e 3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (veja abaixo) detalham esses resultados para a Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira e a Amaz\u00f4nia ocidental (Bol\u00edvia, Peru e Col\u00f4mbia), respectivamente. Observe os decl\u00ednios especialmente grandes na perda de florestas no Brasil (59%) e na Col\u00f4mbia (67%). A <\/span><b>Figura 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> mostra a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o dessa perda. Observe as concentra\u00e7\u00f5es nas seguintes se\u00e7\u00f5es da Amaz\u00f4nia: leste e sul do Brasil, na Bol\u00edvia, centro e sul do Peru, noroeste da Col\u00f4mbia. Observe que as maiores densidades de carbono (indicadas em amarelo brilhante) est\u00e3o localizadas no <\/span><b>nordeste da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Suriname, Guiana Francesa e o canto nordeste do Brasil) e <\/span><b>sudoeste da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (sul do Peru). Observe tamb\u00e9m que muitas partes do Equador, Col\u00f4mbia, Venezuela, Guiana, Bol\u00edvia, Brasil e norte do Peru tamb\u00e9m t\u00eam altas densidades de carbono.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conforme relatado pela primeira vez no <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2023\/amazon-carbon-gedi\/\"><b>MAAP #199<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , calculamos\u00a0 <\/span><b>mais de 78 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de biomassa acima do solo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 em todo o bioma Amaz\u00f4nia (78.184.161.090 toneladas m\u00e9tricas). Usando uma suposi\u00e7\u00e3o geral de que 48% dessa biomassa \u00e9 carbono <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , estimamos\u00a0 <\/span><b>mais de 37 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de carbono<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 em toda a Amaz\u00f4nia (37.528.397.323 toneladas m\u00e9tricas).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observe que esses totais provavelmente s\u00e3o subestimados, j\u00e1 que os dados baseados em laser ainda n\u00e3o alcan\u00e7aram cobertura total na Amaz\u00f4nia (ou seja, h\u00e1 muitas \u00e1reas onde os lasers ainda n\u00e3o registraram dados, deixando espa\u00e7os em branco vis\u00edveis nos mapas acima).<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12088\" class=\"thumbnail aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/maaproject.org-maap-199-amazon-carbon-update-based-on-nasas-gedi-mission-Map1-AGBD-Amz-2019-2023-Eng-200dpi.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12088 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/maaproject.org-maap-199-amazon-carbon-update-based-on-nasas-gedi-mission-Map1-AGBD-Amz-2019-2023-Eng-200dpi.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"580\" \/><\/a><div class=\"caption\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Figura 2. Esses alertas est\u00e3o operando nas \u00e1reas de floresta tropical \u00famida prim\u00e1ria da Am\u00e9rica do Sul de janeiro de 2019 at\u00e9 o presente. Apresentamos dados cobrindo o per\u00edodo de 1\u00ba de janeiro a 8 de novembro para cada ano, portanto, todas as compara\u00e7\u00f5es anuais observadas s\u00e3o apropriadas.
