Dados: NASA\/GEDI, NICFI.<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c0 medida que nos aproximamos da <\/span><b>c\u00fapula clim\u00e1tica COP28<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , que come\u00e7ar\u00e1 em Dubai no final de novembro, fornecemos aqui uma atualiza\u00e7\u00e3o concisa sobre o estado atual das reservas de carbono restantes na Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apresentamos a vers\u00e3o rec\u00e9m-atualizada dos dados <\/span><b>GEDI da NASA <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , que usa lasers a bordo da Esta\u00e7\u00e3o Espacial Internacional para fornecer estimativas de ponta da densidade de biomassa acima do solo em escala global.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aqui, ampliamos\u00a0 <\/span><b>a Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> e damos uma primeira olhada nos dados rec\u00e9m-atualizados, que cobrem o per\u00edodo de abril de 2019 a mar\u00e7o de 2023. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esses dados, medidos em megagramas de biomassa acima do solo por hectare (Mg\/ha) com resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de 1 quil\u00f4metro, servem como nossa estimativa para reservas <\/span><b>de carbono acima do solo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>A Figura 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> exibe a biomassa acima do solo em todo o bioma da Amaz\u00f4nia. Observe que as maiores densidades de carbono (indicadas em amarelo brilhante) est\u00e3o localizadas tanto no nordeste da Amaz\u00f4nia quanto no sudoeste da Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Biomassa acima do solo na Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>A Figura 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tamb\u00e9m exibe a biomassa acima do solo em todo o bioma Amaz\u00f4nia, mas desta vez com limites de pa\u00edses e r\u00f3tulos adicionados.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note que as concentra\u00e7\u00f5es m\u00e1ximas de biomassa no <\/span><b>nordeste da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> incluem Suriname, Guiana Francesa e o canto nordeste do Brasil. As concentra\u00e7\u00f5es m\u00e1ximas de biomassa no <\/span><b>sudoeste da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> est\u00e3o centradas no sul do Peru. Dados: NASA\/GEDI, NICFI.<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Estimativas de Carbono<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calculamos <\/span><b>mais de 78 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de biomassa acima do solo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> em todo o bioma Amaz\u00f4nia (78.184.161.090 toneladas m\u00e9tricas para ser exato). Usando uma suposi\u00e7\u00e3o geral de que 48% dessa biomassa \u00e9 carbono <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , estimamos <\/span><b>mais de 37 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de carbono<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> em toda a Amaz\u00f4nia (37.528.397.323 toneladas m\u00e9tricas).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observe que esses totais provavelmente s\u00e3o subestimados, j\u00e1 que os dados baseados em laser ainda n\u00e3o alcan\u00e7aram cobertura total na Amaz\u00f4nia (ou seja, h\u00e1 muitas \u00e1reas onde os lasers ainda n\u00e3o registraram dados, deixando espa\u00e7os em branco vis\u00edveis nos mapas acima).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Isso \u00e9 consistente com um estudo anterior baseado em outro conjunto de dados independente, onde estimamos 6,7 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de carbono na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana em 2013 ( <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2021\/peru-carbon-2020\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAAP #148<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ). Os dados atuais do GEDI estimam pelo menos 5,3 bilh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><b>Sumidouro de carbono<\/b><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em um relat\u00f3rio anterior, mostramos que a Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira se tornou uma fonte l\u00edquida de carbono, enquanto a Amaz\u00f4nia total ainda \u00e9 um sumidouro l\u00edquido de carbono ( <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2021\/amazon-carbon-flux\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAAP #144<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ).
