Exemplo de grande inc\u00eandio de 2023 (29 de junho) na Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira.<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A temporada de inc\u00eandios na Amaz\u00f4nia est\u00e1 bem encaminhada: at\u00e9 o momento, detectamos mais de <\/span><b>260 grandes inc\u00eandios<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> em 2023 (veja <\/span><b>o Mapa Base<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> abaixo).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Este ano \u00e9 de especial preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o porque cientistas indicam que entramos em um novo epis\u00f3dio <\/span><b>de El Ni\u00f1o<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . As temporadas de inc\u00eandios mais intensas na Amaz\u00f4nia j\u00e1 registradas, 2016 e 2017, seguiram imediatamente o \u00faltimo grande evento de El Ni\u00f1o.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A maioria dos inc\u00eandios (54%) deste ano ocorreu na <\/span><b>Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Destes, a grande maioria (73%) queimou <\/span><b>\u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . Este alto n\u00famero \u00e9 consistente com anos anteriores (ver <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2022\/amazon-fires-2022\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAAP #168<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ) e mais uma vez destaca o elo cr\u00edtico entre desmatamento e inc\u00eandios na Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira. Ou seja, a maioria dos grandes inc\u00eandios est\u00e1 queimando os remanescentes de um evento de desmatamento recente.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tamb\u00e9m vale destacar que muitos dos inc\u00eandios na Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira (42%) queimaram \u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas especificamente para novas <\/span><b>planta\u00e7\u00f5es de soja<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At\u00e9 agora, detectamos 40 grandes inc\u00eandios na <\/span><b>Amaz\u00f4nia boliviana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . A grande maioria (88%) foi queimada em \u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas especificamente para novas <\/span><b>planta\u00e7\u00f5es de soja<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Detectamos mais 30 grandes inc\u00eandios na <\/span><b>Amaz\u00f4nia peruana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , a maioria queimando pastagens de alta altitude.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No in\u00edcio do ano, entre janeiro e mar\u00e7o, detectamos 50 grandes inc\u00eandios na <\/span><b>Amaz\u00f4nia colombiana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . Notavelmente, <\/span><b>100%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> deles ocorreram em \u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas em chamas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Essas descobertas s\u00e3o baseadas em dados exclusivos do <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gis-acca.users.earthengine.app\/view\/amazon-fire-tracker\"><b>aplicativo Amazon Fires Monitoring em tempo real<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> desenvolvido por nossa organiza\u00e7\u00e3o parceira no Peru, a Conservaci\u00f3n Amaz\u00f3nica ACCA. Em uma\u00a0 <\/span><b>abordagem inovadora<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , o aplicativo combina dados da atmosfera (emiss\u00f5es de aerossol na fuma\u00e7a) e do solo (alertas de anomalias de calor) para detectar de forma r\u00e1pida e precisa\u00a0 <\/span><b>grandes inc\u00eandios, definidos como inc\u00eandios<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> que queimam biomassa abundante. Dados: ACCA, ACA\/MAAP.<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Painel de inc\u00eandios da Amazon<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tamb\u00e9m apresentamos nosso novo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/fires-dashboard\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">painel de inc\u00eandios na Amaz\u00f4nia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , que atualmente mostra os resultados da temporada de inc\u00eandios de 2022. O painel destaca uma s\u00e9rie de descobertas importantes do ano passado:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Detectamos 983 grandes inc\u00eandios.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A grande maioria (72%) estava no Brasil, seguido pela Bol\u00edvia, Peru e Col\u00f4mbia.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c9 importante ressaltar que 73% dos grandes inc\u00eandios queimaram \u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas, seguidas por pastagens, inc\u00eandios florestais e pastagens.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O painel foi desenvolvido pelo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sas.com\/en_us\/data-for-good.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Programa Data for Good do SAS Institute<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Metodologia<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gis-acca.users.earthengine.app\/view\/amazon-fire-tracker\"><b>Os resultados relatados s\u00e3o baseados em uma an\u00e1lise de dados gerados por um aplicativo<\/b> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0exclusivo de monitoramento de inc\u00eandios na Amaz\u00f4nia em tempo real\u00a0 durante o ano de 2023, at\u00e9 13 de julho.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O aplicativo, hospedado pelo Google Earth Engine, foi desenvolvido e atualizado diariamente pela organiza\u00e7\u00e3o peruana Conservaci\u00f3n Amaz\u00f3nica (ACCA). Os dados resultantes foram analisados \u200b\u200be registrados diariamente pela organiza\u00e7\u00e3o americana Amazon Conservation. O aplicativo foi criado em 2019 e atualizado em 2020, com a vers\u00e3o atual sendo lan\u00e7ada em maio de 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quando os inc\u00eandios queimam, eles emitem gases e\u00a0 <\/span><b>aeross\u00f3is<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 (defini\u00e7\u00e3o de aerossol: Suspens\u00e3o de part\u00edculas s\u00f3lidas finas ou got\u00edculas l\u00edquidas no ar ou outro g\u00e1s) como parte da fuma\u00e7a que sai. Um sat\u00e9lite relativamente novo (Sentinel-5P da Ag\u00eancia Espacial Europeia) detecta essas emiss\u00f5es de aeross\u00f3is.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Os dados de aerossol, que t\u00eam uma resolu\u00e7\u00e3o espacial de 7,5 km\u00b2, n\u00e3o s\u00e3o impactados pela cobertura de nuvens, permitindo assim o monitoramento quase em tempo real durante todas as condi\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas. O aplicativo \u00e9 normalmente atualizado todos os dias no final da tarde\/in\u00edcio da noite com dados para o mesmo dia. Assim, h\u00e1 um alto potencial para que autoridades e a sociedade civil tamb\u00e9m usem este aplicativo para responder a grandes inc\u00eandios no campo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00c9 importante destacar que o aplicativo distingue pequenos inc\u00eandios (como os causados \u200b\u200bpela limpeza de campos antigos e, portanto, pela queima de pouca biomassa) de inc\u00eandios maiores (como a queima de \u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas ou de florestas em p\u00e9 e, portanto, pela queima de grandes quantidades de biomassa).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Definimos um \u201c <\/span><b>grande inc\u00eandio<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201d como aquele que mostra n\u00edveis elevados de emiss\u00e3o de aerossol no aplicativo, indicando assim a queima de n\u00edveis elevados de biomassa. Isso normalmente se traduz em um \u00edndice de aerossol (AI) de &gt;1 (ou verde-ciano a vermelho no aplicativo).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em uma abordagem inovadora, o aplicativo combina esses dados de aeross\u00f3is da atmosfera com dados de anomalias de calor do solo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para todos os grandes inc\u00eandios detectados, cruzamos o padr\u00e3o de emiss\u00f5es de aerossol com os dados baseados no calor do solo para identificar a localiza\u00e7\u00e3o exata da fonte do inc\u00eandio. Normalmente, para grandes inc\u00eandios, h\u00e1 um grande conjunto de alertas de anomalias de calor auxiliando o processo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em uma etapa final, os grandes inc\u00eandios detectados s\u00e3o ent\u00e3o analisados \u200b\u200bcom imagens \u00f3pticas de sat\u00e9lite de alta resolu\u00e7\u00e3o do Planet Explorer. Com essas imagens, podemos confirmar o grande inc\u00eandio (observando a fuma\u00e7a no dia do inc\u00eandio ou uma cicatriz de \u00e1rea queimada nos dias seguintes ao inc\u00eandio) e estimar seu tamanho.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al\u00e9m disso, com o extenso arquivo de imagens de sat\u00e9lite do Planet, podemos determinar o tipo de inc\u00eandio. Ou seja, comparando imagens da data do inc\u00eandio com datas anteriores, podemos determinar se o inc\u00eandio estava queimando a) uma \u00e1rea recentemente desmatada (definida como inc\u00eandios em \u00e1reas recentemente desmatadas durante os \u00faltimos tr\u00eas anos), b) uma \u00e1rea desmatada mais antiga (tipicamente \u00e1reas de pastagem de longa data), c) floresta em p\u00e9 (ou seja, um inc\u00eandio florestal) ou savana natural.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No aplicativo, tamb\u00e9m podemos fazer refer\u00eancia cruzada se um grande inc\u00eandio ocorreu dentro de uma \u00e1rea protegida ou territ\u00f3rio ind\u00edgena titulado.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Observe que os altos valores nos \u00edndices de aeross\u00f3is tamb\u00e9m podem ser devidos a outros motivos, como emiss\u00f5es de cinzas vulc\u00e2nicas ou poeira do deserto, por isso \u00e9 importante cruzar as emiss\u00f5es elevadas com dados de calor e imagens \u00f3pticas.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Reconhecimentos<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Este trabalho foi apoiado pela Norad (Ag\u00eancia Norueguesa para Coopera\u00e7\u00e3o ao Desenvolvimento) e pelo ICFC (Fundo Internacional de Conserva\u00e7\u00e3o do Canad\u00e1).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maaproject.org-maap-138-as-brazil-negotiates-with-world-amazon-deforestation-continues-in-2021-maaproject.org-norad-icfc-maap-notext.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10173\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/maaproject.org-maap-138-as-brazil-negotiates-with-world-amazon-deforestation-continues-in-2021-maaproject.org-norad-icfc-maap-notext.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Cita\u00e7\u00e3o<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Finer M, Costa H, Villa L (2023) A temporada de inc\u00eandios na Amaz\u00f4nia esquenta.
