Data: ACA\/MAAP, MTC (Peru), MINAM (Peru), MI (Brazil),\u00a0 ABT (Bolivia), GAD Napo (Ecuador), FCDS (Colombia), EcoCiencia (Ecuador), Di\u00e1logo Chino, CSF, RAISG, ACCA, ACEAA (Bolivia).<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<p><b>O desmatamento extensivo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , especialmente ao longo das principais <\/span><b>redes rodovi\u00e1rias<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , transformou surpreendentemente a Amaz\u00f4nia oriental brasileira em uma fonte l\u00edquida de carbono (ver <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2021\/amazon-carbon-flux\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAAP #144<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Felizmente, a grande Amaz\u00f4nia, que abrange todos os nove pa\u00edses, ainda \u00e9 um sumidouro l\u00edquido de carbono, em grande parte gra\u00e7as ao <\/span><b>n\u00facleo ainda intacto da Amaz\u00f4nia ocidental<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><b>maior amea\u00e7a de longo prazo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> para o n\u00facleo da Amaz\u00f4nia provavelmente s\u00e3o as novas estradas, pois elas s\u00e3o uma das principais causas da abertura de \u00e1reas vastas e antes remotas ao desmatamento e \u00e0 degrada\u00e7\u00e3o (Vilela et al 2020).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aqui, apresentamos uma an\u00e1lise inicial de <\/span><b>estradas novas e propostas na Amaz\u00f4nia Ocidental<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Embora seja dif\u00edcil prever quais projetos propostos t\u00eam probabilidade de avan\u00e7ar, encontramos o <\/span><b>potencial de uma grande expans\u00e3o rodovi\u00e1ria<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> no centro da Amaz\u00f4nia ocidental (veja <\/span><b>o Mapa Base 1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al\u00e9m disso, mesmo focando apenas nos projetos mais avan\u00e7ados ou discutidos ativamente, encontramos o <\/span><b>risco de um grande impacto negativo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Abaixo, discutimos nosso Mapa Base inicial de Estradas na Amaz\u00f4nia e apresentamos uma s\u00e9rie de zooms mostrando a floresta prim\u00e1ria em risco caso projetos rodovi\u00e1rios selecionados avancem.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Mapa Base de Estradas da Amaz\u00f4nia<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>O Mapa Base 2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> destaca estradas novas, propostas e existentes (linhas vermelha, amarela e preta, respectivamente), em rela\u00e7\u00e3o a \u00e1reas protegidas e territ\u00f3rios ind\u00edgenas para contexto. Focamos no n\u00facleo ainda amplamente intacto da Amaz\u00f4nia ocidental (Bol\u00edvia, Col\u00f4mbia, Equador, Peru e oeste do Brasil).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A maioria das <\/span><b>novas estradas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> foi constru\u00edda nos \u00faltimos cinco anos e foi digitalizada a partir de imagens de sat\u00e9lite. Observe que, para algumas dessas novas estradas, apenas a constru\u00e7\u00e3o inicial de uma estrada irregular come\u00e7ou e ainda h\u00e1 potencial para impactos futuros de melhorias e pavimenta\u00e7\u00e3o de estradas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A maioria das <\/span><b>estradas propostas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> foi obtida de conjuntos de dados oficiais do governo. Conforme observado acima, \u00e9 dif\u00edcil prever quais projetos de estradas propostas t\u00eam probabilidade de avan\u00e7ar eventualmente. Destacamos seus potenciais impactos em vastas se\u00e7\u00f5es das principais \u00e1reas protegidas da Amaz\u00f4nia Ocidental e territ\u00f3rios ind\u00edgenas.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h4><b>Estrada A. Boca Manu (Peru)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A nova\/proposta estrada \u00e0 qual nos referimos aqui como a estrada Boca Manu serviria como uma nova conex\u00e3o entre as regi\u00f5es de Cusco e Madre de Dios. Ela \u00e9 not\u00e1vel devido \u00e0 sua rota sens\u00edvel entre o Parque Nacional Manu e a Reserva Comunit\u00e1ria Amarakaeri at\u00e9 Boca Manu, e de l\u00e1 entre a Concess\u00e3o de Conserva\u00e7\u00e3o Los Amigos e a Reserva Comunit\u00e1ria Amarakaeri at\u00e9 Boca Colorado. Al\u00e9m de provavelmente impactar essas \u00e1reas protegidas e a concess\u00e3o, a estrada tamb\u00e9m tem o potencial de impactar o territ\u00f3rio pr\u00f3ximo de grupos ind\u00edgenas em <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bdpi.cultura.gob.pe\/piaci\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">isolamento volunt\u00e1rio<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . Pucallpa \u2013 Cruzeiro do Sul Road (Peru \u2013 Brazil)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta estrada proposta conectaria a cidade peruana de Pucallpa com a borda da rede rodovi\u00e1ria existente no oeste do Brasil, perto da cidade de Cruzeiro do Sul. Embora a rota potencial tenha v\u00e1rias op\u00e7\u00f5es, ela certamente cortaria ou passaria perto do Parque Nacional Sierra del Divisor no Peru e do adjacente Parque Nacional Serra do Divisor no Brasil. Esta \u00e1rea \u00e9 caracterizada por vastas florestas prim\u00e1rias, portanto, criar uma nova rota binacional conectando as frentes de desmatamento em cada pa\u00eds poderia obviamente desencadear impactos significativos. Yurua (Peru)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A nova\/proposta estrada \u00e0 qual nos referimos aqui como estrada Yurua conectaria as cidades peruanas de Nueva Italia no Rio Ucayali e Breu no Rio Yurua. Esta rota de 200 km foi constru\u00edda originalmente como uma estrada de explora\u00e7\u00e3o madeireira no final da d\u00e9cada de 1980 para acessar \u00e1reas remotas de madeira na Amaz\u00f4nia central peruana, mas caiu em desuso no in\u00edcio dos anos 2000. Uma an\u00e1lise recente do MAAP (veja <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2021\/carretera-nueva-italia_breu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAAP #146<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ) descobriu que entre 2010 e 2021 grande parte da rota foi reabilitada, desencadeando um desmatamento elevado ao longo do caminho. Se esta estrada fosse pavimentada, os impactos provavelmente continuariam a aumentar, inclusive com comunidades nativas ao longo da rota. Genaro Herrera \u2013 Estrada Angamos (Peru)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta nova\/proposta estrada seria constru\u00edda a partir de uma antiga trilha atrav\u00e9s das vastas florestas que conectam as cidades peruanas do norte de Genaro Herrera e Angamos, na regi\u00e3o de Loreto. Em 2021, a limpeza come\u00e7ou ao longo desta rota, avan\u00e7ando mais de 100 quil\u00f4metros de ambas as extremidades. Se conclu\u00eddo e pavimentado, o projeto final da estrada impactaria \u00e1reas protegidas em ambos os lados (incluindo a Reserva Nacional Mats\u00e9s ao sul) e representaria uma grande amea\u00e7a aos povos ind\u00edgenas em isolamento volunt\u00e1rio que supostamente vivem ao norte. Cachicamo \u2013 Estrada Tunia (Parque Nacional Chiribiquete, Col\u00f4mbia)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O Parque Nacional Chiribiquete, localizado no cora\u00e7\u00e3o da Amaz\u00f4nia colombiana, vem sofrendo press\u00f5es crescentes de desmatamento, em parte devido \u00e0 expans\u00e3o das redes rodovi\u00e1rias ao redor e at\u00e9 mesmo dentro do parque. Por exemplo, a Estrada Cachicamo-Tunia, constru\u00edda em 2020, desencadeou uma nova frente de desmatamento na se\u00e7\u00e3o noroeste do parque. Dados: FCDS, RAISG, ACA.<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h4><b>F.\u00a0 Manaus \u2013 Porto Velho Road (BR-319, Brazil)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provavelmente o projeto mais controverso da lista: pavimentar a se\u00e7\u00e3o central da BR-319 no cora\u00e7\u00e3o da Amaz\u00f4nia brasileira. Esta estrada de quase 900 km conecta a remota cidade de Manaus (de outra forma acess\u00edvel apenas por via a\u00e9rea ou mar\u00edtima) com o resto da rede rodovi\u00e1ria brasileira em Humait\u00e1 e Porto Velho ao sul. Foi constru\u00edda no in\u00edcio dos anos 1970, mas abandonada e intransit\u00e1vel no final dos anos 1980, isolando Manaus mais uma vez. Desde 2015, um programa b\u00e1sico de manuten\u00e7\u00e3o tornou a estrada geralmente transit\u00e1vel, mas o projeto principal permanece: pavimentar a se\u00e7\u00e3o central de 400 km que passa pelo n\u00facleo da Amaz\u00f4nia ocidental. Esta pavimenta\u00e7\u00e3o conectaria efetivamente Manaus com as rodovias existentes no sul e provavelmente desencadearia uma perda florestal massiva ao estender o arco de desmatamento para o norte, incluindo dentro e ao redor das \u00e1reas protegidas que cercam a estrada. Ixiamas \u2013 Estrada Chiv\u00e9 (Bol\u00edvia)<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nos \u00faltimos anos, a Bol\u00edvia tem buscado financiamento para uma estrada de 250 km ligando a atual cidade fronteiri\u00e7a de Ixiamas com a cidade isolada de Chiv\u00e9, localizada perto da fronteira peruana no rio Madre de Dios.
