No entanto, quando essas florestas s\u00e3o desmatadas (e frequentemente queimadas posteriormente), o carbono armazenado \u00e9 liberado na atmosfera, impulsionando ainda mais a mudan\u00e7a clim\u00e1tica global.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Amaz\u00f4nia \u00e9 a maior floresta tropical do mundo, com o Peru formando a segunda maior parte, diretamente a oeste do Brasil (a maior).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><b>Amaz\u00f4nia peruana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00e9 \u00fanica por ter uma estimativa de alta resolu\u00e7\u00e3o do carbono acima do solo que remonta a 2013 (Asner et al 2014).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aqui, analisamos esse conjunto de dados em rela\u00e7\u00e3o aos dados recentes de desmatamento (veja <\/span><b>Mapa Base<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ), buscando identificar as principais tend\u00eancias relacionadas ao carbono entre 2013 e 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nossas <\/span><b>principais descobertas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 incluem:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estimamos a <\/span><b>perda de mais de 100 milh\u00f5es de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de carbono<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (101.498.000 MgC) na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana entre 2013 e 2020, principalmente devido ao desmatamento para agricultura e minera\u00e7\u00e3o.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">k<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Em contraste, estimamos que \u00e1reas protegidas e terras ind\u00edgenas salvaguardaram <\/span><b>3,2 bilh\u00f5es<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> de toneladas m\u00e9tricas de carbono (56% e 44%, respectivamente) na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana entre 2013 e 2020.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A perda de carbono observada acima \u00e9 equivalente \u00e0s emiss\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa de quase 80 milh\u00f5es de ve\u00edculos de passageiros utilizados durante um ano, ou \u00e0s emiss\u00f5es de CO2 de 92 usinas el\u00e9tricas a carv\u00e3o em um ano (EPA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A prote\u00e7\u00e3o de carbono mencionada acima \u00e9 equivalente \u00e0s emiss\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa de 2,5 bilh\u00f5es de ve\u00edculos de passageir<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">os utilizados durante um ano, ou \u00e0s emiss\u00f5es de CO2 de quase 3.000 usinas el\u00e9tricas a carv\u00e3o em um ano (EPA).<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_10565\" class=\"thumbnail alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/maaproject.org-maap-148-carbon-loss-amp-protection-in-the-peruvian-amazon-BaseMap-Carb-ANP-TI-200dpi-v4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10565\" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/maaproject.org-maap-148-carbon-loss-amp-protection-in-the-peruvian-amazon-BaseMap-Carb-ANP-TI-200dpi-v4-464x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"351\" height=\"439\" \/><\/a><div class=\"caption\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mapa de refer\u00eancia. Dados: Asner et al 2014, MINAM\/PNCB<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Metodologia<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Este relat\u00f3rio combinou dois grandes conjuntos de dados: 1) carbono acima do solo de Asner et al 2014 e 2) perda florestal anual identificada pelo Programa Nacional de Conserva\u00e7\u00e3o Florestal ( <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/geobosques.minam.gob.pe\/geobosque\/view\/index.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Geobosques<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ) do Minist\u00e9rio do Meio Ambiente do Peru, entre os anos de 2013 a 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Os dados de carbono acima do solo serviram como base para 2013 e, posteriormente, extra\u00edmos os dados de carbono das \u00e1reas de perda florestal de 2013 a 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esse processo nos permitiu obter a densidade de carbono (por hectare) em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 \u00e1rea de perda florestal e, ent\u00e3o, estimar os estoques totais de carbono acima do solo perdidos entre 2013 e 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Os valores dos dados de perda florestal incluem alguma perda florestal natural.
