Clique para ampliar.<\/div><\/div>\n<p>Em relat\u00f3rios anteriores, documentamos que\u00a0<strong>o \u00f3leo de palma<\/strong>\u00a0\u00e9 um dos motores do desmatamento na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana (MAAP\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2016\/plantations-pucallpa\/\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">#41<\/a>\u00a0,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2016\/oil-palm-tocache\/\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">#48<\/a>\u00a0). No entanto, a extens\u00e3o total do impacto do desmatamento desse setor n\u00e3o \u00e9 bem conhecida.<\/p>\n<p>Um\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/1748-9326\/aae540\/meta\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">estudo rec\u00e9m-publicado<\/a>\u00a0avaliou os impactos e riscos do desmatamento impostos pela expans\u00e3o do \u00f3leo de palma na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana. Aqui, revisamos algumas das principais descobertas.<\/p>\n<p>Primeiro, apresentamos um\u00a0<strong>Mapa Base<\/strong>\u00a0de \u00f3leo de palma na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana, destacando as planta\u00e7\u00f5es que causaram desmatamento recente. Em seguida, mostramos dois\u00a0<strong>zooms<\/strong>\u00a0das \u00e1reas mais importantes de \u00f3leo de palma, localizadas na Amaz\u00f4nia central e norte peruana, respectivamente.<\/p>\n<p>Em resumo, documentamos mais de\u00a0<strong>86.600 hectares<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0(214.000 acres) de \u00f3leo de palma, dos quais confirmamos o desmatamento de pelo menos\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>31.500 hectares\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0para novas planta\u00e7\u00f5es (equivalente a quase 59.000 campos de futebol americano).<\/p>\n<p>Em outras palavras, sim, o dend\u00ea causa desmatamento na Amaz\u00f4nia, mas n\u00e3o tanto quanto na \u00c1sia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_7654\" class=\"thumbnail alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2MapaBase_PalmaAceitera_ConSinBosque.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7654 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/2MapaBase_PalmaAceitera_ConSinBosque-448x580.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"475\" height=\"615\" \/><\/a><div class=\"caption\">Mapa de linha de base. \u00d3leo de palma na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana. Dados: MAAP, Vijay et al 2018, Planet<\/div><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Mapa Base<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Uma an\u00e1lise detalhada de imagens de sat\u00e9lite de alta resolu\u00e7\u00e3o (DigitalGlobe e Planet) revelou que as planta\u00e7\u00f5es de dendezeiros agora cobrem\u00a0<strong>86.623 hectares<\/strong>\u00a0(214.050 acres) na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana (veja o Mapa Base).<\/p>\n<p>No\u00a0<strong>Mapa Base<\/strong>\u00a0, tanto o amarelo quanto o vermelho indicam as planta\u00e7\u00f5es de dendezeiros documentadas, com\u00a0<strong>o vermelho<\/strong>\u00a0correspondendo \u00e0quelas que causaram o desmatamento.<\/p>\n<p>As planta\u00e7\u00f5es est\u00e3o concentradas na Amaz\u00f4nia central e norte peruana (regi\u00f5es de Ucayali, San Martin, Hu\u00e1nuco e Loreto).<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Desmatamento<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>No Mapa Base, como observado acima,\u00a0\u00a0<strong>o vermelho<\/strong>\u00a0indica planta\u00e7\u00f5es de dendezeiros que causaram desmatamento desde 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Uma an\u00e1lise de s\u00e9ries temporais de imagens de sat\u00e9lite revelou que o dend\u00ea levou diretamente ao desmatamento de pelo menos\u00a0<strong>31.500 hectares<\/strong>\u00a0(77.838 acres) desde 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Esta an\u00e1lise \u00e9 oportuna porque a Junta Nacional do \u00d3leo de Palma do Peru (Junpalma) anunciou recentemente que \u201cos produtores estabeleceram como meta atingir\u00a0<strong>250.000 hectares<\/strong>\u00a0de planta\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00f3leo de palma at\u00e9 2019, a fim de cobrir todo o mercado nacional\u201d (Fonte:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gestion.pe\/economia\/junpalma-proyecta-alcanzar-250-mil-hectareas-palma-aceitera-2019-232324\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">Gestion<\/a>\u00a0).<\/p>\n<p>Por exemplo, \u00e9 importante notar que a empresa peruana Grupo Palmas prop\u00f4s h\u00e1 alguns anos quatro novas planta\u00e7\u00f5es que causariam o desmatamento de 23.000 hectares de floresta prim\u00e1ria (ver\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2017\/good_news\/\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">MAAP #64<\/a>\u00a0).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Esclarecimento:\u00a0\u00a0\u00c9 importante notar que, conforme indicado no\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2017\/good_news\/\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">MAAP #64<\/a>\u00a0(caso C), uma das not\u00edcias mais positivas em 2017 foi que essas 4 planta\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00f3leo de palma em larga escala foram interrompidas antes que qualquer evento de desmatamento ocorresse. O Grupo Palmas agora est\u00e1 trabalhando em dire\u00e7\u00e3o a uma cadeia de valor de desmatamento zero e tem uma nova pol\u00edtica de sustentabilidade, conforme indicado naquela an\u00e1lise.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Zoom Amaz\u00f4nia Central Peruana<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>A Imagem 1<\/strong>\u00a0mostra um zoom das planta\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00f3leo de palma na Amaz\u00f4nia central peruana. O mais not\u00e1vel \u00e9 o desmatamento para duas planta\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00f3leo de palma em larga escala perto de Pucallpa (\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/2016\/plantations-pucallpa\/\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"6182f4e07f71b7b1555341c3\">MAAP #41<\/a>\u00a0). Dados: MAAP, Vijay et al 2018, Planet<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><strong>Metodologia<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Vijay et al (2018) identificaram planta\u00e7\u00f5es de \u00f3leo de palma em \u00e1reas desmatadas entre 2000 e 2015 com base na an\u00e1lise visual de imagens de sat\u00e9lite Worldview-2 e Worldview-3 de alt\u00edssima resolu\u00e7\u00e3o (\u2264 0,5 m) (de 2014 a 2016) obtidas da DigitalGlobe (NextView). O total de \u00f3leo de palma identificado a partir desta fonte \u00e9 de 84.500 hectares.<\/p>\n<p>Tamb\u00e9m inclu\u00edmos dados de 2016-18 (em setembro de 2018) com base na an\u00e1lise de imagens de sat\u00e9lite de alta (Planet) e alt\u00edssima resolu\u00e7\u00e3o (DigitalGlobe) pela equipe do MAAP.
