Criado por MAAP<\/span><\/i><\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">O MAAP enfatizou repetidamente o poder e a import\u00e2ncia dos sat\u00e9lites de observa\u00e7\u00e3o da Terra com sensores \u00f3pticos (como Landsat, Planet, DigitalGlobe).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No entanto, eles tamb\u00e9m t\u00eam uma limita\u00e7\u00e3o importante: <\/span><b>as nuvens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> impedem que os dados sobre a Terra cheguem ao sensor, um problema comum em regi\u00f5es chuvosas como a Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Felizmente, existe outra ferramenta poderosa com uma capacidade \u00fanica: sat\u00e9lites com sensores <\/span><b>de radar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> , que emitem sua pr\u00f3pria energia e conseguem atravessar as nuvens (veja a imagem).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Desde 2014, a Ag\u00eancia Espacial Europeia fornece imagens gratuitas de seus sat\u00e9lites de radar, conhecidos como <\/span><b>Sentinel-1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana, por exemplo, o Sentinel-1 obt\u00e9m imagens a cada 12 dias com uma resolu\u00e7\u00e3o de ~20 metros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aqui, mostramos o poder das imagens de radar em termos de <\/span><b>monitoramento de desmatamento quase em tempo real<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> . Focamos em uma \u00e1rea com desmatamento cont\u00ednuo devido \u00e0 minera\u00e7\u00e3o de ouro na Amaz\u00f4nia peruana do sul (regi\u00e3o de Madre de Dios).<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Imagens de radar (Sentinel-1)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>A Imagem 79a<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00e9 uma s\u00e9rie de imagens de radar Sentinel-1, mostrando o avan\u00e7o do desmatamento da minera\u00e7\u00e3o de ouro entre janeiro de 2017 e fevereiro de 2018. Destacamos 4 \u00e1reas focais:\u00a0 <\/span><b>A.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> La Pampa (setor Balata), <\/span><b>B.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Tierra Roja, <\/span><b>C.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 Upper Malinowski, <\/span><b>D.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 Reserva Nacional Tambopata. Em contraste, observe que a invas\u00e3o ilegal da minera\u00e7\u00e3o de ouro na Reserva Nacional de Tambopata, que aumentou em 2016, foi efetivamente interrompida em 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fitem-sep\"><\/div>\n<h3><b>Dados de desmatamento<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>A imagem 79b<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 indica as \u00e1reas de desmatamento de minera\u00e7\u00e3o de ouro mais recentes detectadas pelo radar. Estimamos a perda de\u00a0 <\/span><b>3.260 acres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 (1.320 hectares) entre janeiro de 2017 e fevereiro de 2018 (indicados em amarelo e vermelho), em nossa \u00e1rea de interesse.
